About Me
“First, do no harm.” – Hippocrates

My name is Joanna Moritz, and I started experimenting with animal training at about 10 years old, when I discovered that my pet rat would do tricks for treats. For the past 12 years I have been working professionally with dogs and, more recently, parrots and other animals, using positive reinforcement training. I have a degree in psychology, and am Knowledge Assessed through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers, a professional member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers, a commerical member of the American Federation of Aviculture, a charter member of The Pet Professional Guild, and a member Association of Animal Behavior Professionals. I also have years of experience in various forms of (human) teaching and tutoring. Because of my experience and because I work hard to stay current in the latest techniques and research, I have a thorough understanding of behavior and psychology, and the ability to apply it seamlessly to improve the animal/human relationship.
I live in Reno, and I currently share my home with two Amazon parrots, a cockatiel, a Dutch bunny, and one very patient Australian Cattle dog. With the exception of one of my birds, they are all rescues.
